THE CAPITOL ENSEMBLE! Saturday, July 14, 2018 8:00pm

The Capitol Ensemble will perform Saturday, July 14, 2018 on the Pomegranate Patio of El Molino Viejo. The program will feature two great melodic string quartets by Schubert and Dvorak.  The first by Franz Schubert, String Quartet in a minor OP. 29, is known as Rosamunde.  The second half will feature Antonin Dvorak's string Quartet in Major OP.96, The American.

The Capitol Ensemble is noted for a sound that is “richly upholstered and well balanced”, with a unique group of musicians dedicated to the live performance of an eclectic range of repertoire, ranging from the Baroque to the 21st century. The members have collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned artists, and performed live broadcasts on National Public Radio, and recorded new works by several California composers. The musicians of The Capitol Ensemble are Philip Levy, violin, Julie Gigante, Violin, Alma Fernandez, viola and Jacob Braun, cello. Violinist Phillip Levy has received worldwide critical acclaim performing and teaching at festivals across the U.S. and around the world. Since her Carnegie Hall debut, violinist Julie Gigante has been in demand as a chamber musician, soloist and recording artist. Violist, Alma Lisa Fernandez attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music and UCLA where she earned a Master’s Degree in Viola Performance. She is currently Professor of Viola at Pepperdine University. Cellist, Jacob Braun is a busy musician performing frequently with chamber ensembles and as a soloist. The ensemble is in its 16th season as Artists in Residence for the LA County Museum's "Sunday's Live" radio broadcasts and are featured on the programs theme music.
